Hamid Mani, M.D., graduated from the Vanderbilt University Ophthalmology program in 1987. He did his vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Louisiana State University, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He founded the California Retina Associates in San Diego, CA. He is one of the pioneers in intraocular tumor and submacular surgery. He helped develop the use of silicone oil and perflurocarbon liquid under the FDA

protocol for treatment of complicated vitreo-retinal diseases. He is married and has two children, Niki and Alex. His wife, Melissa is a dentist, specializing in dental implant surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and San Diego County Medical Society.
